Rodney had tracked me down! We haven't been in contact for 20 years! I was glad he caught up with me; you see, Rod and I were mates during our military training in South Africa, but soon after our paths separated. What I am really surprised (and very excited) about is that we both now serve others... Rod's Pudsey commitment is similar to my humanitarian work. Having worked in the financial services industry for 13 years, it was an encounter through SA's xenophobia outbreaks in 2008 that led me to believe in being part of a united solution for Africa and not merely standing by and criticising our domestic racial/ethnic challenges. Rod and my reconnection spells wonderful opportunity for reuniting an old friendship, but more than this perhaps working together in the fight against the marginalised and voiceless. A powerful team!
